Endovascular Repair of Ascending Pathologies: An Overview of Outcomes and Techniques
Endovascular repair of the ascending aorta is a hot topic in Aortic Surgery and is something I have focused on for many years.
I wrote a recent post on BadAorta.com which provided an introduction to the subject here.
One of the challenges that we have at present is that the endovascular stent technology is not yet optimized to treat aortic aneurysms and aortic dissections of the ascending aorta. There have been a few early clinical trials with new stent-graft designs, but at present there are no approved endovascular devices for treating the ascending aorta and a limited amount of information.
I was recently asked to give Grand Rounds about ascending aortic stent-grafts at the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York, NY.
I wanted to share with you a video of the presentation on YouTube here.
