This Week in Aortic Surgery July 8, 2019 - July 14, 2019
I wanted to start a new series for those of you who are interested in a more detailed deep-dive into the currently published literature regarding aortic disease management. This includes newly published research studies which provide insights into diagnosing and treating aortic aneurysms, aortic dissections and other aortic disorders. You could consider this a weekly Journal Club for interesting studies being published regarding Aortic Surgery topics.
I intend to provide a link to the referenced journal article. Once following the link you will be able to read an abstract of the article but you may need a subscription to the journal in order to read the entire article. Most academic journals provide an alternative option to purchase individual articles instead of purchasing the entire issue or an annual subscription to the journal. Most of the referenced articles will include an abstract which is a brief summary of the article which will provide you enough information to decide if a particular research study is of interest to you.
The academic journals that I will be choosing articles from will vary, but will generally cover the cardiac surgery, vascular surgery and cardiology domains. Every once in awhile, the New England Journal of Medicine or Journal of the American Medical Association, for example, will have an important study relating to aortic disease and aortic therapies.
Valve-sparing root replacement in patients with bicuspid versus tricuspid aortic valves
Operative and Long-Term Outcomes After Curative Repair of Acute Dissection Involving the Proximal Aorta
Outcomes and complications after fenestrated-branched endovascular aortic repair
Open versus Endovascular Repair of Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm
Late Contained Aortic Root Rupture After Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement for Bicuspid Aortic Stenosis
Endovascular Repair of Ascending Aortic Pathologies With Tubular Endografts: A Single-Center Experience
